Taj Mahal: a legend of roots music, world music, and blues. Keb' Mo': an essential link between delta blues and modernity. Two artists from different generations who, throughout their respective careers, have demonstrated the ever-present opportunity to honor the origins of the music. Henry Saint Clair Fredericks (New York, 1942) is the quintessential, absolute blues musician. Kevin Roosevelt Moore (Los Angeles, 1951) is original, visionary. In 2017, they came together for the first time on the album "TajMo" (Concord). It was only a matter of time before these two extraordinary artists aligned to once again challenge blues stereotypes with a collection of memorable songs. The album won a Grammy. Seven years have passed, and after touring stages around the world, the two bluesmen have reunited in the studio to record a second album, another collection of eclectic and refined songs capturing a state of creative intimacy. Backed by an exceptionally solid and effective band, "Room of the Porch" brings us once again two musicians in a state of evolution: seasoned artists in harmony, interpretive generosity, energy, and restraint. Music with a capital letters, meant to be enjoyed for its surprise and wit.
At eighty-three, Taj Mahal, and at seventy-three, Keb' Mo’ need no validation. They write, play, and sing, nothing more. You can join them by listening to this collaborative work and decide for yourself what it’s all about.
