Born in Omaha in 1948, Shaun Murphy settled in Detroit, where she launched her singing career in the city's vibrant music scene. Performing under the stage name Stoney, she recorded the album "Stoney & Meat Loaf" with Meat Loaf, released by Motown in 1971. A couple of years later, she joined the band of Detroit's biggest rock star, Bob Seger, remaining with him for more than a decade. In 1985, she became a member of Eric Clapton's band, recording the album "Behind the Sun" and taking part in the subsequent world tour, which included Clapton's legendary performance at Live Aid that same year. In 1993, she joined the reunited Little Feat as lead vocalist, staying with the band for fifteen years. She then embarked on a solo career as a blues and R&B singer, releasing her debut solo album, "Livin' the Blues", in 2009. With thirteen albums to her credit, Murphy has built one of the most compelling,yet often underrated, careers among the female vocalists of her generation.
