Tad Robinson is back at Delmark Records after five wonderful albums with Severn Records between 2004 and 2019. Born in New York in 1956, Robinson , a songwriter and harmonica player, is, above all, one of the standout voices in contemporary soul blues. After recording an album with The Hesitate Blues Band, and already based in Chicago, Tad joined Dave Specter’s Bluebirds, with whom he recorded the album "Blueplicity" for Delmark, label with which that same year he released his solo debut with "One to Infinity". After a second album with Delmark, he signed with Maryland-based Severn Records. In 2024, returning to the Chicago label, Robinson released the single "That's How Strong My Love Is" once again with Dave Specter, recorded during Delmark’s historic 70th anniversary concert at Evanston SPACE with the Delmark All-Stars, a song both artists brought back from "Blueplicity". Now, Tad Robinson releases his eighth solo album, reaffirming his status as a modern-day soul shouter and confirming why he is considered

SOUL BLUES INDEED IT IS

IT REALLY IS

Dave Specter and Tad Robinson playing a terrific version of
"How I Got to Memphis" at Buddy Guy's Legends in 2007
one of the great contemporary voices of the genre. He has been, and continues to be, a key figure in bringing a renewed spirit to soul music, infused with influences from other genres, this is not only evident in the blues context of his music, but also in his embrace precepts that shape the entirety of American roots music. His voice is his greatest offering, the method and the ritual through which Robinson performs the act of singing. It’s an unfiltered voice, clear and forceful, powerful and stirring. Every song he performs transforms any previous standard, turning him into a preacher of new feelings and sensations.
