"Allison August" is the second solo album by Californian singer Allison August. Although not a widely recognized artist in the circuit, this woman possesses an exemplary decision to sing; she has a sublime voice and writes thoughtful songs for a reflective audience. Allison August sings the blues, and music has been her path in life. Her influences from jazz and soul are present in every note she sings, and funk is directly absorbed from her admired Little Feat. This album has been released eight years after her debut with "Holy Water," and the recording and production process has been in the works for the past six years, recorded in three different studios and featuring Paul Barrere, guitarist and founding member of Little Feat who passed away in 2019, keyboardist Mike Finnigan, who passed in 2021, and Gregg Sutton, deceased in 2023. The album honors them with these twelve wonderful songs, also including three of her old friends, David J. Carpenter, Bryan Head, and Dino Soldo, who, along with Allison herself, recorded the album "For the Mind, Body and Soul" (1996) under the name Barebones. In "August Moon," the singer showcases her engagement with everything around her, a critical and reflective vision, not without a certain sense of humor, and, above all, with exuberant clarity and personality. This is the personal work of a coherent artist, an admirable and sincere songwriter who infuses each song with a particular exercise in emotional transparency that inevitably immerses the listener in her good taste and honesty. One must go a few steps beyond what her voice conveys, seeking the artist's inner world.

"I learned from a young age that music feeds the soul and brings people from all walks of life together like nothing else can. I believe that music can change the world."(A.A.for Blues.gr)
