"Héritage represents the moment when we reconnect with the spirit of our Malian culture and the river of our traditions. It showcases both the incredible diversity and what unites us as a Malian people. And this is a message we are delighted to embrace and share with the world, especially now."(S.B.)

Hypnotic music. Songhoy Blues emigrated from Timbuktu due to the country's political conflicts, bringing with them string instruments, percussion, and occasionally a flute and harmonica, to convey an unknown reality. In Mali, thirteen official languages coexist, with French no longer being one of them since 2023. They sing in Sonhay from exile, with choral harmonies, ancestral rhythms, and assertive wills. Muddy Waters and Taj Mahal are present in the imagery of these songs, baptized as Desert Blues. The music of Songhoy Blues interacts with the Sahel tradition and the modernity of a newly inspired, illustrated rock'n'roll. The sounds are demanding of an emerging reality, a protest calling for attention beyond artistic expression. The African continent does not seek the return of its wealth but justice for its identity as the cradle of much of the world’s cultures, and Songhoy Blues provides the soundtrack to awaken the most committed sensibilities.
