Blues-rock star Samantha Fish wrapped up the European leg of her "Paper Doll" tour in Barcelona. A nearly packed Razzmatazz venue bore witness to a high-energy live performance by the Kansas City native, who delivered the intensity needed to close out a whirlwind blues-rock show. Backed by the same band she recorded her latest album with, Fish held nothing back, each song was delivered with power and passion, her guitar solos were perfectly measured, and her voice led the entire concert with confidence. Samantha Fish is currently at the peak of her career. With eleven albums released and over two hundred shows a year, she’s capturing global attention, not just from dedicated blues fans, but also from audiences in genres that intersect with the blues. She surprised the crowd by opening her set with a song by MC5 and quickly followed up with a tribute to Screamin’ Jay Hawkins. The show continued with tracks from "Paper Doll" and ended on a high note with RL Burnside’s “Goin’ Down South.” While the band’s instruments may not have had the best sound mix and the overall audio quality wasn’t ideal, it didn’t stop this from being one of the finest blues-rock performances you can see today. Samantha Fish is a true star on the American blues circuit, and whether in the studio or on stage, she proves it time and time again. Her presence is like a hurricane, powerful, wild, and unforgettable.
