Based in Zurich, Patrick Lämmle, born in 1960, was a guitarist with the band Blues Rooster in 1995, and ten years later he formed The Bluespack, his first blues band as a leader. Switzerland has maintained a small but active blues circuit, with artists such as Philipp Fankhauser, Nico Brina, Larissa Bauman, Walter Baumgartner, and bands like Mono Mojo, Doctor B. & The Groovie Cabinets, and The Dead Brothers. Patrick Lämmle has been a leading blues musician in the Alpine country, a guitarist with a highly personal and intuitive style, and a composer who champions the blues as a backbone from which to move beyond widely accepted classicism. His songs offer the possibility of giving roots music the sensations needed to explore different paths forward, never in the opposite direction, to reach surprisingly uncommon destinations.
