North Mississippi Hill Country Blues continues to challenge its own extinction. The legacy of Fred McDowell, R.L. Burnside, and Junior Kimbrough keeps growing through their descendants, Duwayne, Cedric, Garry, Kent, and Cody Burnside, as well as Kinney, David, and Robert Kimbrough — who have carried their music into the present day. So have the North Mississippi Allstars.
The Dickinson brothers have also kept alive the legacy of their father, musician and producer Jim Dickinson. Since forming NMA in 1996, their experimentation with the blues has taken them to astonishing heights of originality and innovation. Their music is an eccentric journey from the roots of rock ’n’ roll to the trance rhythms shaped by the guitars and percussion born in the north hill country of the  Mississippi state. With twelve studio albums released (and about a dozen live recordings), the Dickinson brothers have truly redefined electric blues above the Delta, becoming torchbearers of the genre for new generations of fans discovering the music through shorter but equally thrilling paths.
