THE FABULOUS THUNDERBIRDS feat KIM WILSON
DISCOGRAPHY
At the same time that the complete reissue of the albums released by The Fabulous Thunderbirds with Jimmy Vaughan in the band (1978–1989) is announced, Kim Wilson displays his paradigmatic state of form on his latest album, Slow Burn, the ninth solo album of his career and the fourth released through MC Records. There is no need to rediscover Wilson’s greatness as a composer, harmonica player, and seasoned frontman, but it is worth once again applying the adjective legendary to his status as a figure of contemporary blues. An indestructible artist, Kim Wilson has taken his music all over the world as an ambassador of Texas blues with the irreplaceable T-Birds, while also leaving his mark on countless albums by many of his closest friends. "Slow Burn" is his best solo album to date. Kim does not violate the essence of pure blues, nor does he dress it up with sometimes unnecessary arrangements. Instead, the songs - eight covers and four originals - are distilled with the simplicity of someone who needs no special effects to give his music its fullest meaning. Wilson is already a legend, without whom the contemporary blues coming out of Texas—the fiercest and most unforgiving blues of the survivors—could not be understood.
