A sweet, somewhat enigmatic voice, descended from the sky where echoes of Nina Simone whispered to her. Born in Belgrade (Serbia) and currently based in Poitiers (France), keyboardist, singer and songwriter, Katarina Pejak fifteen years ago emerged on the blues scene in her country, led internationally by guitarist Ana Popovic although other bands such as Fingerbang The Vojnovjanski Blues Band are also worth highlighting, releasing two albums - 2010 and 2012 - for a local label . She graduated from Berklee College and spent time in Nashville (TN). In 2019 she became part of the Ruf Records family and released her first album with international recognition "Roads That Cross", recorded in Texas and produced by Mike Zito and the participation of guitarist Laura Chavez, who also appears on the latter job. Ruf included her in the 2019 Blues Caravan along with the Finnish Ina Forsman and the Texan Ally Venable, performing more than sixty concerts in Europe and releasing an album that included that tour. "Pearls On A String" is her fourth album and the second for the German label and with it she has managed to do an extraordinary job, it contains above all some songs composed by an artist who has reached an enviable degree of maturity and a band of professional musicians with a superlative magic . Pejac's voice is suggestive and emotional, it passes sensitively between vocal caresses and the innate strength of a woman committed to the time in which she has lived.Nothing should prevent Katarina Pejak from climbing a few more steps in the recognition of her artistic capacity.
