At 15, James Buddy Rogers was already moving through the blues scene in Vancouver with his band Texas Storm. Before turning 20, he joined Russell Jackson’s band and earned his road education over five years performing across the United States alongside B.B. King’s bassist. In 2000, he founded The James Rogers Band, and three years later recorded his first album. Rogers is a versatile blues guitarist who stays true to tradition, an outstanding songwriter who avoids self-indulgent virtuosity to focus on mature, intelligent playing. Any of the six albums he has released to date shows his ability to give the blues the necessary touch of modernity and innovation that helps any musical genre sustain its survival. "Covered In Blues" reflects a body of work with renewed signs of forward-looking projection for the future of the blues.
