White woman, black voice. Like Janis. From the depths of her soul Deb Ryder defies any established register and her voice resonates like thunder in the storm. A storm of blues and soul from which you need shelter. With six albums released since 2013, this woman has broken the mold and has become a crooner empowered by the expressive force and unlimited capacity of her vocal power. She started with a fledgling band, opening every night the club that her parents opened in Topanga (CA) and there she absorbed the essences of the artists who followed her on stage, Big Joe Turner, Etta James or Charlie Musselwhite among many others. She worked as a session musician as a backing vocalist and combined her work in TV advertisements. With her husband, bassist Ric Ryder, they formed the band The Bluesryders and performed around the country in clubs and festivals for twenty years, until they recorded the first album under their own name "Might Just Get Lucky" in 2013. Deb is a torrent that floods each song with overflowing energy, strength and freshness at the same time, fluidity and solidity that mark the limits through which the interpretative discourse must flow. This woman has done it, we mustn't let any of her fingerprints escape.
