Carl Weathersby
Live at Jamboree Club - Barcelona - Spain
July 7, 2018
(1953-2024)
Weathersby died on August 9, 2024, at the age of 71. Born in Jackson, Mississippi, he was one of the great Chicago guitarists who emerged in the 1980s. After returning from Vietnam, Carl toured with Albert King for two years and in 1981 joined Billy Branch's Sons Of Blues, where he remained as guitarist for fifteen years. In the mid-1990s he began his career as a solo artist and in 1995 he released his first solo album, "Don't Lay Your Blues on Me" through Evidence Records. As a session musician, he appears in the credits on more than thirty albums by colleagues such as Billy Branch himself, Hubert Sumlin, Carey Bell, Buster Benton, Trudy Lynn, Little Milton, Mississippi Heat or Rico McFarland. A blues legend gone too soon.
