Electric. Energetic. Eclectic.
An update on the music of R. L. Burnside, the figurehead of the Burnside saga, a hardened hypnosis of Mississippi hill country blues. The Belgian band Boogie Beasts bring all their imagination and authority to reclaim R.L.’s music on the centenary of his birth. Since 2011, this commanding group has been a benchmark in Europe among the most innovative musicians who have filtered blues to keep it compelling and even unpredictable. This is their seventh album and, without a doubt, the most ambitious and hard-hitting they’ve recorded to date: an elevated take on the syncopated blues of the northern Delta that only a handful of bluesmen turned into legend. Boogie Beasts do an excellent job, sensational musicians with a genuine feel.

GOING DOWN SOUTH
(music & lyrics by R.L. Burnside)
I'm going down south, I'm going down south
I'm going down south, I'm going down south
I'm going down south, chilly wind don't blow
I'm going with you baby, I'm going with you baby
I'm going with you baby, I'm going with you baby
I'm going with you baby, I don't care where you go
Some other man, some other man
Some other man, some other man
Some other man is always hanging around
I don't want her, I don't want her
I don't want her, I don't want her
I don't want her lovin' somebody else
I'd rather be dead, I'd rather be dead
I'd rather be dead, I'd rather be dead
I'd rather be dead, six feet in the ground
I'm going down south, I'm going down south
I'm going down south, I'm going down south
I'm going down south, chilly wind don't blow
