Listen to samples - Big Harp George - No Shortcuts
Big Harp George needs no introduction. For his fans, his music is a unifying force, bringing together virtuosity, elegance, and emotional depth. No one who hears him play can come away untouched. At this stage of his career - this is his eighth album -he is unlikely to surprise listeners with sheer technical brilliance. Yet his innovative musical voice remains fully intact: always challenging, always searching, and entirely consistent with an artist in constant creative evolution. Each new Bisharat album presents a fresh challenge. Big Harp George reaches out to younger generations with musical gestures that invite them to take up the torch, opening the door to unexpected possibilities and renewed confidence. If the blues needs optimism and renewal, George is essential. “No Shortcuts” balances imagination and professionalism in equal measure, combining clarity and freshness with ambition and respect. Another essential addition to the blues canon.
These are his seven previous albums
Death Rattle of the Republic (Lyrics)
Watch the clown car screaming over the cliff
Should’ve seen it coming, too late for what if
Stomping on the gas, warning lights flicker
Peeling off freedoms, crueler and quicker
Ain’t no glory here no truth marching on
Just a death rattle dressed up as a song
Did it with a chainsaw, did it with a gun
Dynamie and matches, buckets of fun
Whoever got hurt, really don’t matter
Cheer as bodies fall, cheer the blood splatter
Ain’t no glory here no truth marching on
Just a death rattle dressed up as a song
Oligarchs party, launching their rockets
Buying politicians to line their own pockets
When the planet dies and it’s coming soon
Leave us all here fly off to the moon.
Oligarchs party, launching their rockets
Buying politicians to line their own pockets
When the planet dies and it’s coming soon
Leave us all here fly off to the moon
So go on Amazon and feed the beast
Tell your kids you got your fix at least
Won’t have to wonder when you hear that sound
A once proud people crashing to ground
Ain’t no glory here no truth marching on
Just a death rattle mistaken for song
