From North Carolina, Adam Wilson, a.k.a. Big Daddy Wilson, born in 1960, enlisted in the U.S. Army and was stationed in Germany in 1979. That European country eventually became his adopted home. Married to a German woman, Wilson had his first encounter with blues music at a concert in Germany and, without hesitation, decided to become a singer. His first recordings were for the Hungarian label Crossroads Records, until in 2009 he signed with Ruf Records and released "Love Is the Key", his first solo effort, an outstanding album that marked the true beginning of his career. Big Daddy Wilson represents the most intense and alternative side of soul blues over the past two decades. A singer and guitarist, his vocal range is unpredictable: he is deeply moved by the blues and ignites with soul, while gospel appears without warning, turning his voice into an outburst of emotion and sensitivity. "Smiling All Day Long" is his nineteenth album, and nothing has changed in Big Daddy, his most emblematic soul remains firmly at the forefront.
