The Arcadians are an ethnic group descended from the French who settled in the colonies on the east coast of Canada during the XVII and XVIII centuries, being deported from the place and finally ending up in the state of Louisiana. Their arrival in the southern state favored the cultural mixture with the creole population, giving rise, if we speak of cultural tradition, to cajun and zydeco music. Zachary Richard, born in the state of Louisiana in 1950, is a convinced activist of the French-speaking Arcadian roots in the southern state, musician, poet and multi-awarded as an emblematic preserver of all that heritage and promoter throughout the world of French cultural roots in Louisiana. As a musician he has recorded more than twenty albums as well as published a dozen books of poetry and short stories, he has carried the legacy throughout the world and his contribution to the spread of French culture in the state of Louisiana is invaluable and indispensable. "Danser Le Ciel" is an album of poetry set to music, an intimate singer-songwriter with beautiful songs that raise the claim to the state of art, a compendium of musical beauty at the service of the pride of being an indispensable asset in a minority culture but as rich as it is essential . A wonderful album.
