Vanessa Collier is a true phenomenon. Her youth has not prevented her from rising as a figure among the new generations of musicians who have joined the regenerative ranks of blues music in the last ten years. Young female saoxophonists such as Camille Thurman, Lakecia Benjamin, Melissa Aldana, Candy Dulfer or Mindi Abair have burst onto the contemporary jazz and pop scene, but this has not been the case in blues music. Vanessa Collier can be considered a pioneer in the use of the instrument. Few have been the women in the history of blues music who have approached to this genre with sax, they come to mind, in the fifties the Californian Vi Reed or the Georgian musician Rosa King . Collier has managed in just ten years to build a career as an artist that has earned her praise from the media and fans, releasing five extraordinary albums, winning three awards at the BMAs, and being an artist in demand at clubs and festivals in the United States and Europe. As a complementary argument, it's necessary to highlight the integrity and subtlety with her voice - she also occasionally plays the guitar - but it's with the sax that her strong personality captivates the listener, she combines funk and rhythm&Blues with an unusual projection, she becomes exquisite in passages that embellish soul and not hesitate to cultivate some rock &roll licks. Vanessa Collier is a star that already shines with her own light.
