JOHNNY IGUANA RELEASED A SOLO ALBUM CALLED "CHICAGO SPECTACULAR"
DELMARK RECORDS - 2020
Johnny Iguana became a full member of the select group of blues musicians in Chicago as a pianist of the Junior Wells band for three years, and from then he established himself as one of the most solid and demanded piano players in the city. His extraordinary mastery of the instrument has led him to share his playing with legends such as Buddy Guy, Koko Taylor, Otis Rush or Carey Bell among many others, and as a studio musician he can be found in dozens of sessions. Born in New Jersey, he grew up in Philadelphia until in 1994 he settled in Chicago, where in 1999 he founded the band Oh My God with whom he spent ten years and released six albums. Together with dummer Michael Caskey, The Claudettes were born in 2010, band that has had various line-ups until the current one was consolidated in 2016. The entry of female singer Berit Ulseth gave the band's sound an approach to pop structures always starting from the base of the funkyest blues and boogie tempos of Iguana's piano as the composer of all the songs. The result puts on the score a new concept in the modernization of blues music, where the incisive and original ideas are not afraid to take the most regenerative and daring side. The freshness of their proposal makes The Claudettes the most interesting and progressive band for roots music that can be found on the circuit today.
Johnny Iguana (Brian Berkowitz) and Michael Caskey formed The Claudettes in 2010.
Michael Caskey left the band in 2016 and rejoined again in 2018. In 2016 Berit Ulseth and
Zach Verdoorn joined the claudettes.
Johnny was nominated for Best Piano player at the 2021 BMAs.
"The Claudettes Go Out!" It is the third album with this line-up.
