Caron "Sugaray" Rayford had just released his seventh solo album "Human Decency", seven essential works, all of them, the best soul blues in just over a decade. At fifty-five , this powerful Texan is at the top among contemporary blues singers, his voice is the revelation of his strength and conviction in every song he performs. His beginnings as a professional was as a vocalist for the California based blues band Aunt Kizzy's Boyz, releasing their first album in 2004. Before releasing a second album with the band, Rayford represented San Diego at the 2006 IBCs. His solo career began in 2010 with the album "Blind Alley", a wonderful album that marked an inflection of what could be expected from a soul singer until then. In 2011 he joined The Manish Boys, participated in the recording of the album "Double Dynamite" (2012) and they won Traditional Blues Album at the 2013 BMAs. In 2019 he won his first solo BMA in the Soul Blues Male Artist category, winning it again the next year. Rayford has been nominated in other categories twenty-one more times.
