I LOVE FREDDIE KING

Born in New York in 1960, blues rocker Popa Chubby has spent the last thirty years pouring energy and personality into his exclusive and fiery 60s-style blues, distilled from the albums of Jimi Hendrix and the Rolling Stones, the New York punk of the New York Dolls, the Chicago old school of Muddy Waters and Otis Rush, and other fiery legends like Freddie King. Popa has long expressed his desire to record this album, selecting some of the seminal songs from the "Texas Cannonball" and gathering some of his friends in a studio to record them. And this is the result: "I Love Freddie King" is not a tribute to the Texas guitarist, nor a tribute album. I'is the raw power of a group of renowned guitarists, led by Popa, playing Freddie King's songs simply for the joy of playing them. The newyorker guitarist exudes the purity and simplicity of rock 'n' roll from Little Richard and Chuck Berry, presenting himself to the audience with the honesty needed to preserve its essence, approaching every riff and every solo with the sincerity of a beginner who has been playing for three decades. Bonamassa, Zito, Castiglia, Gales or Ingram all lend themselves to this ceremony of legitimacy with the nobility and pride of sharing these songs that are anthems of the blues, bringing Freddie King back to the altar of legends. A display of love for classic blues in the 21st century, musicians dedicated to the emotion of recapturing enthusiastic feelings, a further contribution to preserving the reason that gives meaning to blues music in times of near-instant obsolescence.
