From Memphis, we have received renewed sounds of the old swing, jazz from the 40s and 50s, jump-blues, and the unstoppable rhythm of Jad Tariq. Born in Connecticut 28 years ago, a guitarist, singer, and songwriter, he makes his artistic debut after being discovered by the renowned Memphis harmonica player John Nemeth, with whom he has performed and recorded in recent years. "Sings" contains a collection of brilliant eight songs—four originals composed by Tariq himself and four covers—from trumpeter and King Records artist Gene C. Redd, Benton Parker (bassist in Tony Holiday's band), the 1949 hit "Bloodshot Eyes" by western-swing musician Hank Penny, and "No Sleepin’est Woman" written by Richard Williams for T-Bone Walker in 1947.
Jad Tariq combines excellent guitar work with a versatile and elegant voice to lead a band of distinguished and refined musicians, creating an album to listen to, dance to, and enjoy from beginning to end.
Let's start the party !
