Two bluesmen destined to share their music. William Homans (Watermelon Slim) and Rob Robinson (HeavyDrunk), two blues artists as intense as they are eclectic, with an overflowing energy on stage and prophetic in the recording studio. You can't talk about them as purists of delta blues, dobros, slides, harmonicas, also unexpected gospel, incandescent soul, and rock'n'roll without mercy. Both are free spirits, long-traveling bluesmen, musicians without pre-established paths, with no rules to follow, their idiosyncrasy doesn’t allow them to envision a future they’re not interested in writing, only to sing their songs for a loyal group of fans who understand their mission. It’s ancestral blues music, echoes of John Lee Hooker, Hill Country Blues rhythms, Mississippi Fred McDowell, the deep delta, Son House. Homans, either solo or with his band The Workers, Robinson, either solo or with Heavydrunk, allow us to travel to the past of a musical genre that is still alive and constantly regenerating, and they are pioneering examples of it. Strength and intelligence, passion and devotion, they are also the present.
