Will Wilde and his latest album are a clear reason why blues-rock is still essential for keeping the blues alive and thriving in the 21st century. Born in Macclesfield, England, and raised in Wiltshire, Wilde is an incredible blues harmonica player. Any solo his guitarist can perform, he replicates brilliantly with the harmonica. This man's technique is as innovative as it is futuristic. He created the Wilde tuning, the world’s first harmonica tuning specifically designed for blues-rock. In 2005, he released his first album as Will Wilde & The Neptune Blues Band. In 2011, he signed a contract with Rock the Earth Records, releasing "Unleashed" (2010) and the magnificent "Raw Blues" (2013), followed by the live album "Live In Hamburg" (2015) and finally "Bring It On Home" (2018). In 2020, Wilde formed the band Bad Luck Friday with guitarist and friend Steve ‘The Beak’ Brook, releasing a self-titled album in 2022. Will’s return with "Blues Is Still Alive", which features Walter Trout as a guest on one track, is an album that avoids the typical blues-rock clichés to present ten songs that are closer to blues than rock. The harmonica solos evolve into elegant, synchronized riffs that capture the modernity this musician brings to his performances. This is an album that compresses the blues to its maximum contemporary expression, featuring a powerful harmonica player and an original, captivating singer. An excellent album.
