THE BOB LANZA BLUES BAND
NEW JERSEY BAR SCENE BLUES ICON
We may be listening to Jump Blues or Texas Blues, but it’s Bob Lanza from New Jersey, a guitarist with forty years of career as a blues musician. He has played with bands as diverse as, among many others, Cancellation Blues Band, Ann Rabson, Bob Dwyer Band, Big Daddy & The Wild Cats, Trudy Lynn, The Homewreckers or Jason Ricci & The New Blood. However, it was in 1997, while he was with The Bluzemonster, that he met pianist Floyd Phillips, and together they founded The Mudflaps. Bob was the bandleader for four years, gaining maximum recognition as a guitarist. In 2001, after Phillips’ passing, Bob formed The Bob Lanza Blues Band and began his solo career, consolidating himself as an artist. In 2006, Bob was recruited by James Cotton, with whom he spent several years as a guitarist in his live backed band. Since 1979, Bob Lanza has been an active musician. In 2009, he released his first album, "Things Ain’t So Bad", and after releasing a second album, in 2015 he signed with Connor Ray Music and released the excellent "From Hero to Zero", the first of three albums released through the Houston-based label. "Breadman’s Blues" is Bob Lanza's new musical work after six years, and the first with Momojo Records, a division of Nola Blue Records, ten full energergy songs featuring an exquisite guitarist who should already be considered a blues musician with indisputable prominence in a scene that showcases the present and, without a doubt, the future of the genre.
