Peter Kern will be the Austrian representative at the 2025 edition of the European Blues Challenge, which will take place in Split (Croatia) next April. Born in Vienna in 1973, Kern began performing on stage at the age of fifteen, and by 1990 he was the guitarist and singer of the band Hooked on Blues. His first solo album, "Young and Restless", produced by Larry Cohn and entirely acoustic, was released in 1999, revealing an exceptional guitarist with an amazing command of fingerpicking. His next milestone was a third-place finish at the IBC in 2001, and two years later, the self-produced "Bluespower" was released, an album that further showcased his strength as an acoustic guitarist and included, for the first time, three live tracks in a full electric band format. In 2007, under his short-lived stage name, Peter Cairn, Styx Records released his third collection of acoustic songs titled "Lovepower". Over the last decade, notable artists in the Austrian blues scene, such as Moritz Gamper, Sir Oliver Mally, and Florian Trummer, as well as bands like Austrian Blues Combo, The Hoodoo Men, and Vienna Blues Company, have risen to prominence. With this magnificent fourth album, Peter Kern has not only recorded his first fully electric album but has also positioned himself as a key figure in the blues scene of this Central European country. This musician offers songs that reflect his own experiences; he does not reinterpret or copy, from respect for their references, he presents a personal, sincere, and original musical creativity in songs free from any unproductive stereotypes, and this is the biggest attraction to listen to him.
