Guitarist, singer, and songwriter Javier Teixidor formed and led Mermelada in 1977, one of the seminal bands in Rhythm & Blues and rock'n'roll in Spain. With them, he recorded nine albums and released more than twenty singles. His influence on the musicians who later ventured into rock infused with soul and R&B in the country has been widely recognized and undoubtedly well-deserved. His commitment to roots music led him to disband Mermelada, and in 1998, together with his two bandmates in Mermelada, bassist and accordionist Daniel Montemayor and drummer Antonio Melgar, he founded the new project J. Teixi Band, elevating their complicity to the highest level of genuine R&B and primitive black sounds. These twenty-five years on the road have not only solidified the band’s position in the national circuit but have also placed them in the imaginations of cult bands, being revered by a large legion of fans. With twelve albums released, they are one of the most stable and cohesive bands in Spain. Fans of J.
