TEXAS BLUES MINISTER

Born in Mississippi but Texan by adoption. Blues music from the Lone Star State. T-Bone Walker. Country blues musicians Texas Alexander, Lightnin' Hopkins, Mance Lipscomb. Electrics Albert Collins, Gatemouth Brown, Freddie King. Classmates Stevie Ray & Jimmie Vaughan, Lou Ann Barton, Kim Wilson, Johnny Winter, Angela Strehli, Anson Funderburgh...and Omar Kent Dykes, one of the guitarists most identified with the Texas sound. He began playing guitar in his native Macomb(MS) in the mid-sixties and after settling in Austin a few years later, with his eternal Howlers, he has built the most prolific recording career among musicians of his generation, with thirty albums released, including true masterpieces. Omar Kent Dykes has been a true musical phenomenon, a blues artist without comparison, a hurricane on the stage. The history of Texan blues has reserved a prominent place for him where his enormous talent as a guitarist and as a bluesman will be reflected.
