Born in Boston in 1979, "Monster" Mike Welch is a somewhat  underrated but indispensable blues guitarist. At the age of thirteen he performed for the first time in Cambridge (MA) and soon after, still a teenager, he founded the "Monster" Mike Welch Band. In these almost thirty years he has released seven albums and has played the guitar incredibly around the world. Welch, songwriter, singer and guitarist, has put his special touch on albums by, among others, Duke Robillard, Jimmy Vaughan, Darrell Nulish or the Manish Boys. In 2016 he released the anthological album "Right Time Right Place" alongside Nick Moss Band singer Mike Ledbetter, an album that consolidated him as a present-day blues musician. His latest work "Nothing But Mine" has been reeased by Mike Zito's Gulf Coast Records and is an album of effervescent electric blues, Welch is at the top of his career and he shows it in these fourteen songs full of forcefulness and energy, the guitars are always in the right place and his voice sways continuously between impetus and harmonic friendliness. "Monster" Mike Welch is one of the great contemporary blues guitarists.
