Historically, jazz in Europe has had in Catalonia one of the main focuses of attention in terms of record productions, festivals and a long-standing tradition of clubs and associative movements, and above all of musicians. Internationally recognized as one of the great jazz pianists, Tete Montoliu broke any kind of wall and in his wake true piano masters emerged such as Manel Camp, Francesc Burrull, Lucky Guri, Josep Mas "Kitflus", Ignasi Terraza or Jordi Sabates to name just a few. Following that same tradition, Marc Ferrer is one of the young pianists who have requested his inclusion among jazz musicians and especially blues and rhythm & blues who have taken the reins to the new generations who asked for his place like also did before blues & boogie pianists such as Luis Coloma or August Tharrats. Marc Ferrer led the band The Big Jamboree since its beginings, active since the early eighties, and in 2015 he adopted the trio format, along with double bass player Pep Rius and drummer Olivier Rocque. The Marc Ferrer Trio is one of the current formations with the most projection and the most solid on the blues and jazz circuit in Catalonia, made up of three superb musicians with innate abilities to illustrate the excellent state of health of roots music in a context of immediacy and poor performance.
