established, the Catalan musician Xavier Malacara is an artist who proposes fusion in his own conception of a blues musician. Coming from musical currents aligned with avant-garde electric pop-folk, he formed his first band called Karma Police at the end of the nineties and recorded three albums that already drew attention among early fans due to the personal treatment and distance from the academicism that folk music is hard to get away from. His immersion in blues music proposes his willingness to incorporate all his background learned in his curiosity for Latin music, Bob Dylan, the Mediterranean music culture, southern soul, Hawaiian sounds, Chicago blues and Memphis rock and roll. The premiere came in 2013 when he joined guitarist Tony Wilson to name the Malacara & Wilson Band and record their first album two years later. His first solo album "The Rookie" published in 2020 was a step forward in the career for Xavi Malacara, not only because it was a completely surprising work but also because it had a certain international echo. His friendship for years with harmonica player Atún Aznárez resulted in the album "Big Fish" in 2021, both dedicated to the most austere country blues. After spending a few weeks performing and touring the southern United States, he surprised with "The Man And The Ocean" a wonderful intimate and personal work, the result of a thousand experiences so far. Xavi Malacara does not have a wide-range voice, but he has a special voice that attracts from the first note that, together with his sinuous musicality when he sings, makes this musician an original and committed artist. "Kings & Politicians" is not one more step in the path of this artist, it's an album conceived as a reflection of the current situation of a musician in a period of militant creativity.
