Maciej Krec is a musician who has been opening horizons among fans of blues music in Poland for more than thirty years. As a bass player he co-founded the band Blues Flowers in 1993, keeping the Polish language in their songs and incorporating nuances of their country's own musical tradition. The band has released six albums to date and has established itself as a reference in the small circuit of clubs and festivals that program blues in their city Poznań as well as in the rest of Poland. Maciej Krec, restless and ambitious, made a trip to the south of the United States with his two friends, the guitarist Maciej Sobczak and keyboardist Bartlomiej Szopinski, with whom he was playing, learning and falling in love with the magic that music gave off for everyone the places through which they crossed. What they experienced on that trip led them to conceive this album. In the two years of work, more than forty musicians have joined them, shaping an album that is not designed to please on a first and simple listen, the atmospheres created go in the opposite direction to what can be expected from a blues album. But the final result is a high musical work, unpredictable guitars, unexpected horns, hidden keyboards, sinuous strings and groundbreaking percussions. The best is the criterion in the songwriting, songs elaborated without giving the slightest option to the concession, without shortening paths or looking for shortcuts. This is an album that will probably not have an easy journey, but whoever listens to it will be captivated by its daring challenge.
