MR. MISSISSIPPI BLEND

Lightnin Malcolm (Steve Malcolm) is a serious musician, tenacious, ambitious and rabidly surrendered to the blues. His guitar is captivated by the hypnosis that transmits the music in the north of the Mississippi state, his elegant and powerful voice is impregnated with the dust of the mountains and his blues transports us to the times when playing was only for the storytellers. But in the twenty-first century. For blues music, it's not only necessary but essential that musicians like Malcolm continue updating the legacy of the pioneers who, without intending to, put a spirit in our souls with which we could share their long and unknown path. Lightnin Malcolm's albums are a pure transcription of all that legacy, they are austere and deep, winding and descriptive, the songs are not made to amaze or embellish a score, they are naked blues. Backed only by a bassist and a drummer, "Eye Of The Storm" is an album that perfectly defines the essence of Hill Country Blues updated by a bluesman and his music, leaving the spirit intact and renewing the performance. There is no conclusion about Malcolm and this album, it's addressed only to those who adored McDowell, Burnside, Krimbough and all the others who without fanfare cast a spell on us forever.
