Born in Sandefjord (Norway) Knut Nordhagen is a veteran blues artist with more than thirty years of musical career. In a country like Norway where there is a long tradition in blues music, with enough artists, clubs, record labels and producers to keep its own circuit active, Nordhagen is a guitarist, singer and songwriter who has managed to stand out as one of the most energetic and respected artists of the genre. Throughout his career he has led different projects such as The Blue Rhythm Pack, Jaguar, Palimp, Zoot Rambles or the current Bluepack, in each of them showing his particular style alternating his own compositions and references to Muddy Waters, Howlin Wolf, Willie Dixon and Chicago classic blues from the fifties. As a guitarist, Nordhagen stands out in the use of the slide guitar with amazing precision, he performs in a basic and efficient way the appropriate riffs in each phrasing, achieving the necessary loyalty so that his music has the faithful link to the electric blues of his origins. This new adventure titled "Maximum R&B" is an excellent condensation work of different ways of understanding blues music, the guitar sometimes poses exciting funk rhythms, passages in which soul sifts the chords and also obvious twelve-bar structures that emphasize some compositions planned to maintain canons of honesty always essential for a roots music artist. This is a great modern blues album with very good reasons to listen to it without dissonances or repetitive clixes.
