In reality, claiming the figure of Bill Withers was an exercise in justice to one of the greatest soul artists and perhaps in the shadow of other great legends. It would not be fair to praise his legacy by referring only to "Ain't No Sunshine", a song that made change the direction of rotation of the planet earth. Between 1970 and 1985, Withers released eight studio albums, a double live and anthological album recorded at New York's Carnegie Hall in 1972, and more than thirty sigles. Other gems from his songbook can be found in songs like the imposing "Lean On Me", high points of 70s soul like "Use Me", "Kissing My Love" and "Grandma's Hands" or the 1980 hit "Just the Two of Us". Bill Whiters was a true visionary of the path that soul music would follow after the glorious explosion that the genre experienced in the sixties with the voices that elevated Motown, Stax and Atlantic Records. Singer, guitarist and composer Kevin Burt has been on stage for thirty years and step by step has managed to place himself among the most emblematic artists of contemporary soul-blues music. His voice, raw and fiery, is the reflection of his exemplary vocation to perpetuate a sound from of the most genuine and inimitable of the classic soul era but, as his respected Withers did, providing it with the necessary and personal incentives to purify new structures of interpretation. To this end, Kevin Burt has selected twelve songs from Withers' catalog and updated them , giving a new strength and conviction that elevates his wonderful spontaneity to a level of enduring excellence. "Thank You Brother Bill - A Tribute to Bill Withers" is not a tribute album to the genius, It's not a simple procedure. It's a whisper of praise and honor to an unrepeatable musician.
