The Soul Twister - Swinging (On a Grape Vine)
00:00 / 02:19

Sacred Soul refers to a localized and prolific North/East Carolina gospel-soul style, with a diverse number of artists who continue to perform and record music dedicated to the glory of God. Johnny Ray Daniels, now 76, is a leading actor. In the sixties he was part of the band The Soul Twisters, recording some sides and they got some national reputation. Later he founded the female vocal group The Glorifying Vines Sisters, in which his wife Dorothy Vines sings, and his son Anthony Daniels is a member of the group Dedicated Men Of Zion. All these artists are part of the collective of musicians sponsored by the Music Maker Foundation and their music is produced and released by Bibble Tire Recording sub-label of Big Legal Mess Records, "Whatever You Need" is Daniels first album and one of the best of its catalog. Daniels' voice emerges as a broken cry of praise and exaltation of faith in God and defining the naturalness of the song as a bond of courtesy and individual respect to the creator of all life. Backed by The Sacred Sound Section, led by guitarist Will Sexton, Daniels enters a space of commitment and glorification through soul and gospel music that makes this album a hymn to the joy of living to praise the blessing that has been expressed in men and women. There is no pain but gratitude and loyalty, singing to exalt the glory of God in this world of madness and moved times.
