Joan Pau Cumellas, musician and psychologist, is the name of reference for a whole generation of blues harmonica players in Spain. Born in Barcelona in 1970, he has been an explorer of the diatonic harmonica, coming to be considered a master of this instrument. Active since the mid-nineties, his career as an artist has led him to tour the blues circuit throughout Europe, where he is considered a true specialist. His extensive experience has allowed him to combine recordings and performances with tasks of disseminating blues music and the transmission of his knowledge as well as the harmonica different techniques. He has fronted the bands Mr. Hurricane Band and Barcelona Bluegrass Band and released albums alongside Barcelona blues legend Big Mama Montse, singer-songwriter Quico Pi De La Serra, and guitarists Miguel Talavera and Valenti Moya. "Baggage" is his new album, a superlative work in which he shows his musical awareness to the highest degree as well as the multiple mastery of the harmonica as an instrument of transaction between technique and the artist's soul. This album should be a must-listen for any fan of blues, harmonica and without a doubt of genre music.
