She loves the piano, it's her life. Honky Tonk stylist, boogie woggie devoted, born in Greymouth (New Zealand), Jan Preston has pursued throughout her career, that started in the early 80s, the devils of ragtime and the spirit of the great juke joint pianists who have inspired her. With her personal technique with the keys and her stylistic voice, as sensitive as peruasive, have made her presence a relevant and academic boogie woman like few others, not only in her radius of action but even a deserved space in the international scene. In trio format, backed only by a drums and a double bass, the presence of the piano has all the prominence in her performances, leaving aside any other sweetening that means unnecessary arrangements and allows her to play and sing with all freedom, intimacy and seduction. "Piano Boogie Woman" is her twelfth album, and it's worderful.
