ALWAYS NEED DR. JOHN
Searching through Dr. Mac Rebennack's most healing potions, Jack Licitra - Jack's Waterfall alma mater - has found the inspiration to compose nine surrenders to the legacy of the greatest of New Orleans music shamans and voodoo pianist. Dr. John passed away in 2019 and since then homages and tributes have been lavished on his majestic musical work while some true devotees have captured all of the Doctor's energy and vitality in his own creative process. This is the case of Jack's Waterfall and the album "Call The Doctor", eleven originals composed and performed from the highest loyalty, admiration and respect towards the talent of the most advanced musician in the tradition of music originating from New Orleans. Highlight the majesty of all the musicians and guests who have made this recording possible, a luxury to be able to count on the talent of Nick Russo on guitar and banjo, the solidity of Mark Carpentieri on drums (owner of MC Records), jazz and blues oriented Canadian saxophonist Michael Blake who participated in John Lurie's cult group The Lounge Lizards, as well as guest vocalists Amy Correia and Maria Muldaur among others. The album only contains two versions, Dr. John's own "How Come My Dog Don't Bark When You Come Around" entitled "Dog Don't Bark" and the eternal "Brother John" by the Neville Brothers. This is an album to have a great time with Licitra's piano and the spirit of Rebennack.
