Born in Sydney, Jack Derwin is a musician with national recognition, who has been on the road for many years, with four solo released albums, has been part of various bands and has performed outside Australia in Germany, New Zealand, some Asian countries and the USA. He's not a musician who perform blues music, he's a songster with a multitude of influences that surrounds his songs with an introverted and calm spirit that characterizes his personal style of instrumentation.
The Ragged Gents is this latest project, a compact and sensitive band that helps to transport some unique songs towards a terrain in which roots music strips itself of all complexes and manages to tone down the clixes to build a musical building with great height. The inspiration that blues music also reveals in these songs is not intended to caress the genre in a latent way but is a suggestion for other ways to stimulate the imagination. This first album by Jack Derwin & The Ragged Gents is an album of wonderful songs composed and played from humility and ambition.
