Ivan Márcio is, along with Flávio Guimarães, Jefferson Gonçalves and Big Chico, the leading harmonica player in Brazil. Graduated in pedagogy, he has trained hundreds of young people as a music teacher. As a teenager he began playing in clubs in Sao Paulo and soon became part of the Prado Blues Band ( the lead guitarist Igor Prado can be considered the Brazilian blues musician with the most international impact) until 2008 when he left for Chicago to record his first album. "Chicago Blues Sessions Vol I" was recorded with Merle Perkins, Michael Coleman and Michael Morrison, musicians of James Cotton in the eighties, and two years later he returned to the windy city to record "Chicago Blues Sessions Vol II", in acoustic format and under the production of Jon McDonald, a member of Magic Slim's Teardrops. He performed at the Chicago Blues Festival and also shared stages with Billy Boy Arnold, Eddy Clearwater and Omar Coleman. In this latest album he celebrates thirty years on the road and he has brought together in the studio other leading names in blues in Brazil such as guitarists Netto Rockfeller and Lucas Espildora as well as a rhythm section made up of bassist Guilherme Ambrózio and drummer Danilo Hansem. The result is 10 covers of Charles Calhoun, Jimmy Rogers, Paul Delay, Earl King, Peter Green or J.B. Lenoir among others, performed with mastery and conviction, forcefulness in tempos and impeccable solidity. A highly recommended album for any fan of classic blues.
