blind boy fuller (fULTON ALLEN)
(1907 - 1941)
Born in North Carolina, Blind Boy Fuller personified one of the greatest exponents of the Piedmont blues style. Completely blind since 1928, Blind Boy began busking with his resonator guitar and ragtime fingerpicking playing, and his first recordings were made in the mid-1930s, popularizing songs like "Rag Mama Rag," "Step It Up and Go" or "Get Your Yas Yas Out", this last song was taken by The Rolling Stones for their 1969 live album tittle. His recordings with harmonica player Sonny Terry were decisive to lead and define the original Piedmont blues style, in the lyrics of his songs mixed a sense of humor with subtle sexual references and his record production covered around more than a hundred sides, the last ones recorded in New York in 1940 a few months before he died of various infections and kidney failure.

Hubert Dorigatti is an Italian musician born in 1975 in Bruneck, a town in the mountains of Tyrol, in the north of the country / He had an academic musical education but soon found himself face to face with jazz music, and after leaving the trumpet he dedicated himself to the study of the guitar in various conservatories in Austria and Italy / The blues also got in his way at the same time he discovered Bob Dylan, while he kept playing jazz and perfecting his guitar technique / Finally in 2013 he founded his first electric project "Bayou Side", an exquisite combo where blues is surprised by passages in which jazz shows all its sensitivity and with which they recorded a couple of fantastic albums / Meanwhile, his passion for Dylan led him in 2017 to focus on ano
ther project he called "Bob Dylan Revisited" with singer Laura Willeit
and they released the same yearr a self-titlle album / I haven't heard adaptations of Bob Dylan's songs as subtle and touching as these / In 2018 he released his first solo album followed three years later by a second work, both completely subordinate to blues, showing himself a guitarist fully adapted to acoustic blues with an impeccable technique and transmitter of all his passion and love for the genuine delta blues / With this latest album, Blind Boy Fuller's Piedmont blues and ragtime is updated for the enjoyment of all those listeners who discovered the blues artists who recorded in the 1930s and created the foundations on which later developed the modern blues. It is not always easy and opportune to recover the classics / but in this case it has been worth it.
