Professor for the training of teachers at the University of Science and Technology at the University of Norway, where he entered with a thesis on the New Orleans pianistic tradition, Tor Einar Bekken (Dr. Bekken), born in 1964, is above all a blues pianist, but also play the guitar and ukulele. His personal relationship with pianist Eddie Bo, with whom he even performed  live on several times, decisively influenced his style, also shaped by another of his great influences, fellow NO pianist James Booker. In his blues and boogie-woogie albums can also recognize roots of jazz and folk music, a rhythmic and melodic syntax that define the originality of his approach to the instrument. His first album was released in 1995 and in the last almost thirty years his record production has been immense, among the various edition formats he has released more than sixty recordings. In 2008 he released the album "Hardcore Piano", the first one that contained his own compositions. New Orleans and Oslo are 4,800 miles apart, but Dr. Bekken and his piano bring them closer together until you feel like you can stroll down Bourbon Street every time he plays in any cold corner of the Scandinavian country.
