Born in Crystal Springs (MS) in 1970, Dexter Allen began his career as a bluesman in 1995 when he moved to the city of Jackson and joined his first band Alright Band, to later enter as a lead guitarist in the Bobby Rush band and finally start his own career in 2008 by publishing his first album. Allen is an accomplished guitarist, stylist and soulful, a solid and delicate singer as well as a keyboardist and bassist, the latter being his first instrument when he played it in his father's gospel combo at only twelve. He has recorded six albums, in 2018 he released "Live From Ground Zero Blues Club", a fast-paced live recorded at the Clarksdale club owned by Morgan Freeman. "Keep Moving On" is a studio work in which Allen plays all the instruments and sings on ten of the eleven tracks on the album, seconded only by Christopher Minter on drums, and the help of three musicians on the song "I Just Love That Woman ".
