David Bowie was 17 and she was 14, it was 1964 and their paths crossed, establishing a personal and professional relationship that lasted a decade and that shook their budding musical careers. It became evident in Bowie's song "Andy Warhol", written for her, and in 1972 the album "Ziggy Stardust" contained her backing vocals. Dana Gillespie was born in Surrey (UK) in 1949, her beginnings were influenced by folk music, releasing a couple of titles through Decca Records, but she soon abandoned the genre when she signed with RCA and recorded in 1973  the sensational album "Weren't Born A man" produced by Bowie and Mick Ronson. Gillespie's record production covers around seventy albums and a diversification of genres that makes it difficult to categorize her style, from folk to rock, soul and even Indian music - she is a follower of an Indian spiritual guru - but it's from the decade of the eighties that her direction took the path of the blues. The album "Blue Job" (1982) marked the beginning of her vocation as a blues singer, not only one of her best albums but also her recognition in the UK as a diva of the genre. "Below The Belt" (1984), produced by Mike Vernon, was another fundamental work for her emergence and respect within British blues, confirmed in the following decade with albums such as "Where Blue Begins" (1991), "Blue One" (1994 ), and "Have I Got Blues For You" (1997). Dana Gillespie has also maintained a career as an actress, which she began in 1972 playing the lead female role in the first London edition of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Jesus Christ Superstar, and subsequently in a dozen films, although she has never achieved notable notoriety. Gillespie, at 75, is a woman with a naked soul, her voice has exchanged effectiveness for the magic of maturity, she runs through passages through melodies covered in sincerity and courage, It's the musical experience of an artist who is no longer interested in achieving nothing other than the happiness of continuing to sing wonderful songs and passing on to the listener the magic of that ambition available only to a few.
