Rarely will the blues music industry offer us an album like this. There is no voice like Curtis Salgado. There is no other harmonica as subtle as Curtis. No songwriter like the one from Portland (OR) born in 1954. Far are his beginnings with his first band The Nighthawks or his decisive contribution to the young Robert Cray in his 1980 debut. Winner of nine BMAs in addition to twelve more nominations. Those who don't know his music, this is his eleventh album since 1991, they should immerse themselves in each of them to discover one of the most talented, lucid and overwhelming interpreters to have emerged in the United States in the last thirty years. It's soul music from the blues, warm and energetic, terribly personal and movingly intense. This "Damage Control" is superb, its seduced not only by soul-blues but also by rock'n'roll or the Creole music of New Orleans, and is accompanied by a palette of the most select musicians today. A great Alligator Records production without a doubt.
