Since the early eighties and from New York, Tomás Doncker could be considered a total musician. His facet as a guitarist, singer and songwriter has always paralleled his status as a multi-faceted producer. He has done jazz in Japan, funk and hip-hop in New York and pop with Madonna or the rock of living colour. He has worked with Shemekia Copeland, Bootsy Collins, Funkadelic, Bill Laswell or Public Enemy, and has recorded with musicians from Israel, summarizing more than a hundred albums under his baton. By his name he has released seven albums as well as a lot of singles at the same time that together with poet Yusef Komunyakaa he has established a solid collaboration resulting the edition of three albums and the single "The Only Way - A song For Mandela". His own New York-based company, True Groove Records, has served as the launch pad for countless sessions for a long line of musicians who have shaped the musical movement called Global Soul and the stylistic No Wave generation. In 2014 he released the album "Moanin 'At Midnigh - The Howlin' Wolf Project" as his particular tribute to one of the greats of Chicago Blues. You have to have plenty of time to savor all the work of this musician with capital letters.
