Son of Ugandan immigrants, Michael Kiwanuka was born in London (UK) in 1987,  in his mid twenties he had already been caught by Otis Redding and Marvin Gaye, starting in 2011 a solo career in which he has recorded two albums, both excellent collections of soul sifted with acid notes among a smoking folk psychedelia, and which have been placed him in an almost cult place among current neo-soul musicians. If there is a new re-invention for the music emerged from Detroit and Memphis called "soul music", Michael Kiwanuka and his third album "Kiwanuka" may be an option to consider. Is full of great ideas, proposed by a powerful singer submerged within an orchestration as lyrical as extremely thrilling. In recent years, an interesting number of soul singers have emerged in England to make good music and if it's possible to achieve a success single, but their journey is limited by their lack, in many cases, of greater involvement to innovate within the gender. Listening to this album seems to intuit a musician with concerns.
