Born in Lafayette in 1947, Major Handy is a clear example of how a musician can have an uninterrupted career on stage for over 40 years, having become a treasure for Louisiana's Creole music, having published only two albums, the first in 1985 and the second in 2009. Twelve years as a guitarist in the band of Rockin 'Dopsie and one year in the Stanley "Buckwheat" Dural, as well as his deep knowledge of blues and Zydeco music of his birthplace, accompanied by the passion of his performances has made him an indisputable figure to better understand the roots of the swamps sounds. "Zydeco Soul" is his third album since 1985 and lives up to what Major Handy can offer.
