1956 Lafayette (LA) born Gregg Martinez, aka Mac Daddy, is the singer from southern Louisiana who has best carried the tradition of pioneers such as Lloyd Price or Johnny Adams during his long career. Vocalist of maximum registers, Martinez is associated with the swamp-pop genre, but his journey, begun in the mid-70s, has led him to travel through the paths of soul music, the rhytm'n'blues, Christian music, rock'n'roll and all the legacy of icons like Dave Bartholomew, Fats Domino or Professor Longhair. Active as a professional since 1980, he has led bands such as Kingfish, Heat, Boogie Kings or the current The Delta Kings recording a dozen albums so that finally in 2019 he was inducted into the Louisiana Music Hall of Fame.
